DOT Procedures for Considering Environmental Impacts

The U.S. Department of Transportation (Department) is seeking public comment on this proposed update to its National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) implementing procedures.  This proposed regulation would codify DOT’s NEPA procedures and modernize DOT NEPA practices to provide consistency across the Department.  The Department is seeking public review and comment on the proposed rulemaking, consistent with the Council on Environmental Quality's regulations implementing NEPA.

The proposed rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on November 23, 2020 and comments may be made now to docket number DOT-OST-2020-0229 .  Please submit comments through Docket DOT-OST-2020-0229 prior to December 23, 2020.  For more information, see the DOT NEPA Procedure Fact Sheet and the administrative record regarding the proposed new and modified categorical exclusions.
