WASHINGTON — On Friday, January 10, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg toured multiple forms of transportation and celebrated American workers in Pittsburgh on one of final trips as Transportation Secretary — a city where he made one of his first stops in the role in 2021.
This week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited Dearborn and Monroe, Michigan, and Cleveland, Ohio, to highlight the historic numbers of construction and manufacturing jobs, including good-paying, union jobs, being created thanks to President Biden’s Infrastructure Law, announce a milestone in the Biden-Harris Administration’s work to rebuild America’s bridges, and highlight the legacy of the infrastructure law just over three years after its passage.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited South Bend, IN, where he served as mayor from 2012 to 2020, to tour a union training facility, meet with union workers and apprentices, and check in on transit improvements in Northern Indiana. Thanks to President Biden’s Investing in America agenda and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, tens of thousands of projects are in development and creating jobs now, with project completion rolling out in the years and decades ahead.
Last week, Deputy Secretary of Transportation Polly Trottenberg traveled to Colorado, where she toured the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden and later joined Governor Jared Polis and other local leaders to celebrate the opening of new mobility hubs and see transportation projects across the Eastern Plains.
Yesterday, Secretary Pete Buttigieg joined Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson, Federal Railroad Administrator Amit Bose, and representatives from Amtrak, the Southern Rail Commission, and other local leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Gulf Coast Corridor Improvement project, which will restore passenger rail service back to the Gulf Coast.
Yesterday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited western North Carolina and east Tennessee, where he was briefed by state and local leaders on recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene and discussed emergency aid provided by the Biden-Harris Administration. At this time, the Administration has already approved more than $1.8 billion in assistance for hurricane recovery efforts and will continue to support communities as they rebuild.
Over three days last week, Secretary Buttigieg was in three different Midwest states highlighting the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda. He saw projects receiving funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, met with agriculture producers, port leaders, and workers at small and mid-sized ports in Michigan and Wisconsin, as well as in facilities in Kokomo, Indiana.
Last week, as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America tour, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg traveled to Los Angeles, CA where he joined community leaders and city officials to highlight a major milestone on a vital infrastructure project, and check-in on progress on other transportation projects in the Southern California area.
This week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg joined Governor Roy Cooper in North Carolina, where they visited active construction sites and groundbreakings for critical infrastructure projects that were made possible by President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda, and met with local leaders, union representatives, workers, and small business owners.
