Maria Lefevre - Executive Director, Office of the Under Secretary

Maria Lefevre has serves as the Executive Director for the Office of the Under Secretary of Transportation for policy for the Department of Transportation (DOT). She directly supports the Under Secretary and the offices of Transportation Policy, Aviation and International Affairs, Office of Research and Technology, the Office of Multimodal Freight, and the Build America Bureau. 

Ms. Lefevre is responsible for the financial responsibilities of the Office’s budget, totaling nearly $10 billion in grants and operations, along with $130 billion in critical surface transportation investment loans while also administering $30 billion in Private Activity Bond (PABs) allocations. In addition to establishing a new Multimodal Freight Office under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), Ms. Lefevre also manages $110 million in new Technical Assistance grant programs. 

Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Ms. Lefevre held several positions within USDOT including Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration at DOT, Associate Administrator for Administration and Chief Information Officer for the Research Innovative Technology Administration. Before joining DOT Ms. Lefevre served as a Senior Legislative Executive at the Government Printing Office (GPO) where she was honored as executive of the year by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business as one of the top executives in public and private sector organizations worldwide. 

Ms. Lefevre has repeatedly been appointed as one of the top career executives to lead DOT's Transition Team when Administrations change, and subsequently, and has received Secretarial awards for her leadership. During her 14 years at DOT, Ms. Lefevre has been awarded numerous Secretarial Gold Medals, as well as Exemplary Leadership and Partnering in Excellence awards.
