Maria Lefevre
Maria Lefevre currently serves as the Executive Director for the Office of the Under Secretary of Transportation for policy for the Department of Transportation (DOT).
The Office of the Under Secretary is a complex organization comprised of multiple departments, including Transportation Policy (P), Aviation and International Affairs (X), and the Build America Bureau. These offices and programs have a broad range of functions and missions, including domestic and international transportation policy development and implementation, economic and legislative analysis, regulatory oversight, public engagement, innovative finance and grant programs.
Ms. Lefevre exercises responsibility for the full range of activities assigned to the Office of the Under Secretary, including providing supervisory direction to the Resource Directorate. The Executive Director will advise and consult with the three offices on the implications of resource decisions regarding their po0licy and mandated programs.
Prior to her appointment as Executive Director, Ms. Lefevre was the Senior Advisor to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration at DOT. Ms. Lefevre provided leadership to DOT's Administration function, providing supervision and management across a broad range of department-wide functions that directly impacts customers and nearly 60,000 DOT employees.
Previously, Ms. Lefevre was the Associate Administrator for Administration for the Research Innovative Technology Administration within DOT. In this role, she was responsible for human resources, procurement, performance management, IT services, executive secretariat, records management, and other key areas of the Administrative process.
Prior to joining DOT Ms. Lefevre has served as a Senior Legislative Executive at the Government Printing Office ultimately becoming the Chief of Staff. In 2008, she was awarded Stevie Award for Women in Business for best executive in public and private sector organizations.
Ms. Lefevre started her career on Capitol Hill. She worked on Capitol Hill for nearly ten years starting as staff member and progressively increasing her positions and responsibilities. She was the Staff Director of the Joint Committee on Printing, the Policy Director for the House Administration Committee, and a Legislative Director for a Deputy Majority Whip.
Ms. Lefevre is originally is from Ohio. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland. She and her husband are proud parents of two kids and two dogs.
