Secretary's bus tour stops in Mississippi

Jackson, Mississippi is a fascinating place – an urban city tucked in a rural state with great need for transportation investment.  Congressman Bennie Thompson pulled together a roundtable for us – and we heard a lot – concerns about MPOs, deteroriating bridges, making it harder for children to get to school, expansions needed for airports & roads in need of expansion for heavy farm equipment.  The group was very upfront and also optimstic that our visit will draw attention to their issues.  Their optimism inspired me even more to work for socities that help all communities.
