U.S. Department of Transportation Issues Order Proposing to Grant Authority to Norwegian Air UK

Sunday, July 16, 2017

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) today issued a show cause order tentatively granting a foreign air carrier permit to Norwegian Air UK (NAUK), the UK-flag subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle.  DOT’s order is now open for public comment by interested parties.

In its tentative decision, the Department noted that the primary arguments raised by the opponents to NAUK’s application had been previously considered, by the Department in its final decision on the application of Norwegian Air International (NAI), which was issued December 2016.  The Department also cited commitments to hire American and EU crew made in the NAI docket by the CEO of the parent company of both NAUK and NAI.  The DOT order and all of the filings in the case can be viewed at www.regulations.gov, docket DOT-OST-2015-0261.
