Statement from U.S. Transportation Secretary Buttigieg on the End of Pre-Departure COVID-19 Testing for Inbound International Air Travelers

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg released the following statement after the Centers for Disease Control announced that as of Sunday, June 12th at 12:01 a.m. ET, it would no longer require pre-departure COVID-19 testing for U.S.-bound air travelers: 

S1 Approved: “CDC’s determination is welcome news for travelers and for millions of American workers whose jobs are supported by international travel. Guided by the latest science and data available, the decision reflects a current reality shaped for the better by the hard work of public health professionals and the Administration to distribute effective vaccines and treatments. Over the next 48 hours and beyond, our department will assist to ensure a smooth transition for travelers and airlines alike.”
