Friday, May 22, 2020

The U.S. Department of Transportation today issued a show-cause order pursuant to the Notice of Adjustments to Service Obligations issued May 12, 2020.  This order tentatively grants exemptions to 15 Covered Carriers from the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security Act (the CARES Act) airline service obligations, allowing them to suspend service through September 30, 2020, to certain points subject to conditions.  The Department directs any interested persons having objections to the issuance of an order making final any of the proposed findings, conclusions, or the exemption awards set forth in the order to file such objections by 5:00 PM (EDT) on May 27, 2020, and to serve on all interested parties as required by the Department’s procedural rules.  The show-cause order can be found at regulations.gov, by searching “Docket DOT-OST-2020-0037.”  Media inquiries should be directed to pressoffice@dot.gov.
