DOT’s Advisory Committee for Aviation Consumer Protection to Hold Seventh Meeting on April 14.  On Tuesday, April 14, DOT’s Advisory Committee for Aviation Consumer Protection (Committee) will hold its seventh meeting in the Media Center at DOT headquarters in Washington, DC.  The topics that will be discussed are the amount of space allocated per passenger on aircraft and airlines’ frequent flyer programs.  The Committee, which is mandated by the FAA Modernization and Reform Act, consists of four members – Kathleen G. Kane, Attorney General for Pennsylvania and Chair of the Committee; David A. Berg, Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Airlines for America; Deborah Ale-Flint, Director of Aviation at Oakland International Airport; and Charles Leocha, Chairman and Founder of Travelers United.  The Committee is tasked with evaluating existing aviation consumer protection programs and providing recommendations to the Secretary for improving such programs or establishing additional programs.  The Department’s most recent proposed consumer protections for air travelers include airline customer service improvements recommended by the Committee.  To register to attend the meeting, please contact Amy Przybyla at przybylaa@centratechnology.com or (703) 894–6962.  The meeting will also be webcast at http://www.dot.gov/airconsumer/ACACP.  Media Contact:  Caitlin Harvey:  (202) 366-4570.

FMCSA Commences Annual Motor Carriers’ Drug and Alcohol Testing Survey.  The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), in accordance with 49 CFR § 382.403, has commenced notifying selected truck and bus companies to submit their annual DOT drug and alcohol testing program results to FMCSA.  The notification is being sent to randomly selected motor carriers via electronic mail.  Those selected are responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of their data submission.  Instructions on how to respond and qualifying exemptions are included in the notification.  The selected motor carriers must submit their calendar year 2014 results by May 15, 2015.  Contact:  Duane DeBruyne:  (202) 366-9999.
