FHWA Unveils Strategic Bike Ped Guidance.  This week, at the “Pro Walk, Pro Bike, Pro Place” meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Administrator Gregory Nadeau unveiled the FHWA “Strategic Agenda for Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation." FHWA intends to use the Agenda to help reduce pedestrian and bicycle fatalities and serious injuries by 80 percent in the United States in 15 years, strive for zero pedestrian and bicycle fatalities and serious injuries in the next 20 to 30 years, and increase the percentage of short trips by bicycling and walking to 30 percent by the year 2025. FHWA has spent the last two years developing the document, with input from stakeholders. The strategic agenda  will help to guide the Agency’s bike-ped work over the next three to five years.  Contact: Neil Gaffney.  To download a PDF version of the Agenda, go to:http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/bicycle_pedestrian/publications/strategic_agenda/fhwahep16086.pdf
