Meghan Keck

A communications professional with experience on both sides of the media divide, Meghan Keck currently serves as the Director of Public Affairs at the Department of Transportation, where she has worked since January 2012.  As Director, Meghan leads a team of more than 30 public affairs professionals to promote the Department’s key messages of investing in transportation to achieve economic growth, to provide greater ladders of opportunity and to offer safer, more efficient transportation options nationwide.

Prior to joining the Department of Transportation, Ms. Keck worked as a Director at Burson Marsteller’s worldwide headquarters in Washington, DC.  While there, she provided strategic advice and developed national public relations campaigns for clients including Chase Card Services, the National Association of Realtors®, and Archer Daniels Midland. 

From 2008 through 2012, Ms. Keck served as the day-to-day lead for a cross-agency team supporting Ford Motor Company, managing a nationwide and ultimately international effort to tell the Ford Story as the company successfully avoided bankruptcy and staged one of the greatest business comeback stories during the Great Recession.

Before joining Burson Marsteller, Ms. Keck was the Communications Director for U.S. Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), where her responsibilities included overseeing media strategy and execution, serving as a senior advisor to Bayh, and acting as the on-the-record spokesperson for national media.  She also worked as the communications director for Bayh’s successful campaign for re-election in 2004.

Meghan Keck began her career in communications as a broadcast journalist, working as an on-air reporter at WTVW-TV, a FOX affiliate in Evansville, Indiana, and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
