NASHVILLE, TN – U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy toured the ongoing construction of Nashville’s Music City Loop on Thursday, a high-speed transit system connecting downtown to Nashville International Airport (BNA) at zero cost to taxpayers. The $200 million project, sponsored by The Boring Company, is 100% privately funded and will transport passengers in just 10 minutes while also reducing congestion and increasing capacity on the highway.

Under Secretary Duffy, the Department is slashing the red tape that inhibits innovation and drives up project delays. Working with its public and private sector partners, the Federal Highway Administration was able to expedite this project’s approval timeline by 83% to get shovels in the dirt in record time.

“For too long, we’ve let our bloated bureaucracy gum up critical infrastructure projects that could meaningfully improve the lives of the traveling public. This project is further proof that those days are over, and America is building again. USDOT is proud to partner with the state of Tennessee and The Boring Company to help deliver this tremendous project at Trump Speed. By empowering innovators like The Boring Company, we are creating good-paying jobs that will deliver big, beautiful infrastructure for American families and businesses nationwide,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy.

“Tennessee continues to lead the nation in finding innovative solutions to infrastructure challenges, and we’re grateful to Secretary Duffy for his commitment to advancing projects that strengthen our economy and improve connectivity. The Music City Loop demonstrates what’s possible when government leverages private-sector partnerships to pursue opportunities we couldn’t achieve on our own, and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the Trump Administration to keep Tennessee at the forefront of transportation innovation,” said Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.
