DRIVING THE NEWS: Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs Announce New Actions to Secure America’s Roads
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Administrator Derek Barrs today announced new actions the Department is taking to strengthen safety and integrity on America’s roads. The new measures include requiring commercial driver’s license (CDL) tests be administered in English, upgrading the registration system with identification verification, and cracking down on non-compliant CDL training centers and carriers.

“When we get on the road, we should expect that we should be safe. And that those who drive those 80,000-pound big rigs, that they are well-trained, they’re well-qualified, and they’re going to be safe,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy.
“I want to thank Secretary Duffy for his leadership and the great team we have at FMCSA for the work that they do and saving lives,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs.
