PHMSA Call for Public Comment on International Standards on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) announced today its Federal Register (FR) Notice asking for public comment on issues being considered during the 51st  and 52nd sessions of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCOE TDG). The purpose of the FR Notice is to gain public input on proposals for the 21st Revised Edition of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations, and amendments to the 6th Revised Edition of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, which may be implemented into relevant domestic, regional, and international regulations. Topics on the agenda for the UNSCOE TDG meeting include: explosives and related matters; listing, classification, and packing; electric storage systems; transport of gases; cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency; guiding principles for the Model Regulations; and issues relating to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
