Eric Raamot was a Senior Strategist at the USDOT Highly Automated Systems Safety Center of Excellence (HASS COE). Previously, he spent 22 years as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering at Econolite, the leading manufacturer of traffic signal software and equipment in North America. Eric held more than 20 years of responsibility as the core software architect behind the systems that control 100,000+ intersections. With Econolite traffic controllers operating in approximately one-third of the intersections across the U.S., Eric carried a deep stewardship over this role and was dedicated to saving lives at signalized intersections through the application of technology. He has also been very involved in industry standards over the last two decades, including SAE, NEMA, and NTCIP standards. He served as chair of the controller vendor subcommittee for the Connected Intersection working group (CTI 4501) and maintained broad industry relationships across technology vendor, vehicle OEM, and IOO stakeholders. Eric received an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Colorado Denver.
