Training and Technical Assistance

Training

Climate Change and Transportation 101 - Developed by the DOT Climate Change Center and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this one and a half hour recorded webinar training provides an overview of climate change science, the impact of climate change on transportation, and transportation strategies for adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.  Recording (Passcode: so*bDP5z). Slide Decks 1, 2, and 3.

The National Highway Institute (NHI) is the training arm of the Federal Highway Administration.  NHI developed training for transportation practitioners to understand climate change concepts, interpret temperature and precipitation projections, and apply this information to transportation decision-making through vulnerability assessments, analysis of adaptation options, and addressing resilience in project development and preliminary design.  The first four courses below are each one to two-hour online training modules that are free and available to the public.

The Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) provides training on the full range of procurement topics.  FAI recently developed a training on climate adaptation that provides program managers managing non-IT major acquisitions with high-level climate risk background information, authoritative sources, the necessity of climate adaptation in procurement, and risk management illustrations.  Climate Adaptation for Program Managers
