Secretary Buttigieg’s Engagements:
Week of January 13, 2025 – January 17, 2025
This week, in his final official trip, Secretary Pete Buttigieg traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to participate in a fireside discussion at the University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy. He took questions from students and faculty about public service and infrastructure project implementation and innovation. The Secretary also participated in several local media interviews about his tenure and the accomplishments of the Biden-Harris Administration.
Throughout the week, Secretary Buttigieg engaged in interagency meetings, spoke with members of Congress, and held stakeholder calls to highlight the latest round of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grants supporting 560+ projects in all 50 states. He also received regular briefings from USDOT staff, including on the impacts of the California wildfires and aviation safety matters. Secretary Buttigieg also participated in emergency preparedness exercises to ensure a smooth continuation during the administration transition.
In his last scheduled public engagement as Secretary of Transportation, he met with mayors from across the country and delivered remarks at the 93rd Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. His speech highlighted the partnership between federal and local government, and how the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing work and signature Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is revitalizing communities and livelihoods.
