Visit the Open Forum and learn more about the site with our Q&A below.
What is the Open Forum?
The Forum provides an opportunity for those preparing a proposal and those seeking to serve as an advisor to connect with each other to collaborate and inform proposal ideas. You can also post Challenge-related topics to discuss with your peers, or ask the U.S. DOT a question about the Challenge.
How do I join?
Anyone can view posts without an account, but registration is recommended if you wish to post something so you can follow it.
Why should I join?
The Forum is designed to help you develop your proposal by giving you access to a network of people and information. Teams participating in the Inclusive Design Challenge are strongly encouraged to identify representatives from both industry and the disability community. These representatives may serve as advisors and/or team members and help inform the direction of their idea based on their knowledge and expertise. Strong proposals will be well-informed by a rich understanding of user needs and industry conditions. Feel free to pose a question or comment to your peers through the “Inclusive Design Discussion” category.
How do I use the site?
Using the Idea Box at the bottom of the Forum page, you can:
- Search for an idea or start a new idea by typing your idea in the “Enter your idea” box.
- Select from one of the three categories: (1) Challenge Questions for U.S. DOT, (2) Connecting Project Teams and Advisors, and (3) Inclusive Design Discussion.
- Add a description below the category
- Select “Post Idea”
Is the information public or private?
Any discussions on the forum are publicly visible. The Open Forum is a great way to connect with each other and discuss general topics/questions. Please do not post anything you do not intend to share.
When will the Forum close?
The Forum will no longer accept new posts after September 30, 2020 to allow time for teams to finalize their proposals. All proposals are due no later than 5:00 PM ET October 30, 2020 and should be submitted at https://hostedsites.volpe.dot.gov/inclusivedesign/.
