The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is launching an IT transformation with the goals to enable the DOT mission, strengthen security and achieve results.  Beginning June 2018, the champions of the DestinationsDIGITAL initiative have been detailed to the OCIO from Modal IT programs, not including FAA. The detailees are working together within ten study teams to recommend ways to modernize technology by finding efficient and effective ways to better serve the DOT mission.

Our overall vision is to be the best IT in government!

Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs)

The OCIO has adopted the following Big Hairy Audacious Goals, or BHAGs to: 

  • Strengthen the federal IT workforce
  • Eliminate one million hours of burden
  • Modernize multi-modal processes
  • Reduce malicious cyber incidents
  • Shrink IT footprint
  • Implement intelligent software
  • Promote transportation cybersecurity
  • Expand self-service 
  • Retain the savings to invest in our Department

Study Teams

The OCIO study team's initiatives will focus on the BHAGs to enable the DestinationsDIGITAL transformation. Specifically, study teams will focus on the following initiatives:

  • IT Acquisition Common Operating Environment (Shared Services)
  • Applications and Solution Development
  • Infrastructure and End User Services
  • Enterprise Cloud Services

  • Recruit, Retain, Upskill Talent
