Secretaries Duffy & Rollins also announced hours of service waivers for fertilizer transport to provide relief for America’s farmers

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, and Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07) today met with local commonwealth farmers and freight partners to discuss how the Trump Administration is delivering for Pennsylvania. The “Farm to Table” roundtable was held at Jaindl Farms, a fifth-generation turkey farm.

From investing in farming communities to ensuring only properly vetted drivers are operating big rigs, USDA and USDOT are putting Americans first.

During their visit, the Secretaries also announced a new waiver from USDOT that will protect the transport of fertilizer in over 30 states—a move designed to cut costs, boost production, and bring relief to American farmers.

“You can’t have MAHA without the men and women who haul fertilizer or bring farmers’ products to market. Today’s ‘Farm to Table’ discussion underscored why the work we are doing to secure America’s roads is so crucial for our agricultural communities and highway safety,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. “We were also pleased to announce a temporary, commonsense measure on fertilizer delivery that will ensure our supply chain stays resilient by giving truckers the flexibility they need. The Trump Administration is laser-focused on driving down costs for American families.”

“President Trump has activated his entire Cabinet to address the short-term and long-term availability and affordability of fertilizer. Over 50% of all fertilizer tonnage moves by truck, and all fertilizer touches a truck at least once,” said U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. “Today I am proud to stand next to Secretary Duffy, as we announce that we are waiving trucking hours of service for 90 days that will suspend both the hours-of-service limitations and the ELD requirement to provide broader flexibility for deliveries of fertilizer. This action will not just help the farmers in the Keystone State, but across the country in 35 states.”

“Here in the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, agriculture and transportation work together in important ways,” said Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07). “Local farmers, freight carriers, and supply chains play a critical role in supporting jobs, strengthening our economy, and helping bring food from farm to table. I appreciated the opportunity to welcome Secretary Duffy and Secretary Rollins to our region to discuss how we can continue supporting farmers, improving transportation networks, and investing in the infrastructure needed to keep our communities growing.”

This visit drives home the Trump Administration’s commitment to supporting our farmers who keep our country fed.
